If you are looking for a place to get away and be alone with God, the Prayer Chapel is the place for you! Situated in the edge of the woods and accessible by vehicle, the Prayer Chapel is a world away from all of the noise and distractions of our busy lives. It is a 10'x12' rustic, yet comfortable structure that is heated by a gas fireplace in a stone chimney. The Prayer Chapel is available to anyone who wants to make use of it on a first come, first served basis. You can call the church office (231-536-2128) to schedule a time to use the Prayer Chapel anytime, day or night. During the winter months we keep a path plowed to the Chapel, so that anyone may drive to within about twenty feet of the door.
The Prayer Chapel is exactly what its name implies: a place of quiet solitude specifically designed for individuals to spend time alone with God. There is a comfortable chair in which you may relax in front of the fireplace. There is also a study table where you may sit to write or read. There is a small altar for those who wish to kneel in prayer. The Prayer Chapel is a technology free zone. There is no electricity to the Chapel. During the day the windows give plenty of light, and at night it may be lighted by the fireplace and a couple of lanterns. For those who prefer to be outside to enjoy the beauty of God's creation while they draw near to Him, there is a Quiet Trail that winds through the church property. The majority of the Quiet Trail leads through cedar forest, with portions in open meadows where wildflowers grow. A quiet walker may see some of the several deer that live on the property, but no hunting is allowed. The Quiet Trail also features Meditation Meadow, where there are cement benches and a wooden cross under the open sky, forming an outdoor chapel area. For more information, please call the church office. |
